Overview
WordXing™ is the fast-paced word-crossing game for the iPhone and iPad. Players are given a set of letters to form into a single group of words that cross each other vertically and horizontally. As the game is played, players can rearrange the letters that have already been played, request additional letters to play, and exchange existing letters for new letters. WordXing supports 11 languages: Danish: 🇩🇰, Dutch: 🇳🇱, English: 🇳🇿🇨🇦🇬🇧🇮🇳🇸🇬🇺🇸, French: 🇫🇷, German: 🇩🇪, Italian: 🇮🇹, Portuguese: 🇵🇹🇧🇷, Russian: 🇷🇺, Spanish: 🇪🇸🇲🇽, Swedish: 🇸🇪, and Turkish: 🇹🇷.
Two types of game play are available: time-limited games and score-target games. In a time-limited game, the goal is to get the highest score in the allotted time. Timed games are 2, 4, or 6 minutes long. In a score-target game, the goal is to reach the target score in the shortest amount of time. Three score targets are available: 100, 150, and 200 points for iPads; 75, 100, or 125 points for large iPhones; and 50, 75, and 100 points for small iPhones.
To determine the player's total word score, words are scored as they are played and the sum of all the scored words is the player's total word score. Correctly spelled words add to the total word score and incorrectly spelled words subtract from the total word score. All the words played should be connected. Otherwise, only one group of connected words will add to the total word score and all the other groups of connected words will subtract from the total word score. WordXing considers both dictionary words as well as commonly used words to be correctly spelled. The set of commonly used words includes proper names, geographical names, abbreviations, and slang.
The score value for a word is the sum of the point values associated with each of its letters. To make each game a little different, a random theme is chosen when the game starts. The theme is composed of a special, "2X" letter and word length (e.g., "F:5+", where "F" is the special letter and "5+" means 5 or more letters). Correctly spelled words that contain the special letter and are at least as long as the special word length are scored as double their normal point value. Long words ("7+") are always scored at double their normal value.
When requesting new letters or exchanging existing letters for new letters, the point values of each newly received letter will be subtracted from the player's word score until the letter is played in a correctly spelled word. A request for new letters provides 3 new letters. A request to exchange existing letters for new letters provides 3 new letters for each letter exchanged.
WordXing can be played individually or against another player (the multiplayer features are only supported on devices with iOS version 10 or later). WordXing uses Apple's Game Center for multiplayer games to enable players to initiate games with friends or random players. For multiplayer games, the player with the highest score in a time-limited game wins and the player with the shortest game time in a score-target game wins. For multiplayer games, WordXing maintains a list of active opponents and the number of games posted to and pending from each opponent.
WordXing includes a live tutorial (touch the "?" icon) that demonstrates:
WordXing maintains a history of your recent and best games. Game histories include the final game board layout and score for each player. WordXing also tracks and displays the highest scores obtained by game type, opponent, and language.
When you purchase WordXing, you get the app, the whole app, and nothing but the app. WordXing does not have any in-app purchases or advertisements.
Your best score for each game type is shown at the bottom of each game selection box.
